Location: Reading, Burghfield
Salary: £40,000 - £59,000

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic SHE Advisor to join our defence sector, which includes a contract at a facility near Reading.
The Job:
- Act as delegate for the Framework SHE Manager reporting to the Project Senior Leadership Team
- Contribute to the formation and delivery of strategic objectives based on stakeholder expectations (Internal and external), accounting for current Programme needs
- Drive supply chain organisations to deliver best practice and continual improvement in SHE
- Be a key player in the coordination of risk reduction to the project relating to coronavirus
- Contribute to the development of other employees with regards SHE competence
- Contribute to the deconfliction of works through collaboration and building effective working relationships with the company and Supply chain construction functions
- Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) Policies and Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented on the project/contract/framework
- Provide operational and functional management advice on the practical implementation of the company's SHE policies and processes including external stakeholders such as customers if necessary
- Assist and provide advice to Contract Management in the understanding of stakeholders (internal and external) aims, priorities and risks with regards to SHE
- Assist, where needed, with the development of Health, Safety and Environmental Management plans if applicable and coordination of review
- Provide operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents, incidents, and ill health
- Provide advice and guidance, and where necessary assist with the obtaining legal consents, licenses, and exemptions such as discharge consents, abstraction licenses and waste management licenses as and when required and as directed
- Undertake and provide advice in key tasks to assist in the development, management, implementation and monitoring of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management System
- Undertake and/or assist Contract Management in establishing, managing, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as ONR, HSE, EA, and others as required and directed
- Develop and manage program of, assist with and undertake SHE Advisory Visit, Inspections and Audits where required of operational sites. Participate, as requested in "Company" Group SHE audits
- Provide advice, guidance, and independence with regards to the assessment of and appointment of sub-contractors
- Research Safety, Health and Environmental Issues and best practices as directed by the SHE Manager or delegate
- Provide support to the Bid management team with regards to marketing, tenders, and pre-qualification information
- Assist, if necessary, with the preparation of SHE risk assessments and Method Statements
- Undertake and/or assist with the monitoring, analysis of and reporting of SHE performance. Utilize data to highlight areas of further consideration, evaluation, and intervention
- Assist and/or manage the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of SHE training/briefings, as directed
- Promote best practice, capture best practice, and ensure it is fed-back into the business
- Set standards and lead by example in the management of SHE
- Liaise with the other members of the SHE Team and the wider organisation with regards to SHE
- Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relations to SHE Management and responsibilities including appropriate qualifications and professional membership
- Obtain competency cards in line with the company Competence Card Compliance Standard
The candidate:

- A passion of Safety, Health and Environment
- Be able to work on own initiative when required
- Be computer literate
Essential
- Nebosh Construction Certificate/ Level 3 NVQ Occupational Health and Safety
- Tech/Grad IOSH and working towards CMIOSH
- 3 years SHE related experience
- Health & Safety Officer, or CCNSG require
- Driving license required
Desirable
- Safety, Health, and Environmental Diploma or equivalent NVQ /NCRQ Safety, Health and/or Environmental Degree
- Leadership and Management
- Training Qualifications
- CMIOSH (Environmental Management e.g., PIEMA)
- 3 years relevant SHE experiences in nuclear/process/construction/engineering industry and management and training of others experience
