Hours: Monday-Friday: 08:00-16:30 Monday-Thursday; 08:00-13:00 Friday. No shift work.


Job Description


Our client have a great opportunity for a Senior Engineering Technician to join their growing team in their Water Metering Division to be based in Luton.


They are a world leader in providing creative water metering solutions, including low flow and leakage detection applications. Our client manufacture water meters for utility, commercial and domestic use and offer a complete water metering portfolio including solutions for revenue metering, cost allocation, network monitoring, distribution, radio reading, smart metering systems and industrial applications.




  • You will craft water meters for a number of testing activities using hand tools.

  • You will be responsible for R&D testing of water metering. Including development of next generation metering technologies, new product introductions, validation testing of cost down activities, legal approvals testing.

  • You will perform various tests including performance, durability, and environmental testing on water meters and ancillary systems using multiple test equipment (full training will be given).

  • You will prepare and present test reports to engineers.

  • You will participate in the design and development process within the wider R&D team.

  • You will handle the routine maintenance and setting activities for laboratory test benches.

  • You will look after work allocation and support for the laboratory team and general adhoc duties within the test laboratories.

  • You will document all work for future reference and traceability.


  • Educated to NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in engineering discipline.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, and outlook and be PC literate.

  • Fluent communicator, with excellent social skills.

  • High level of written and spoken English.

  • Analytical approach to work, and problem-solving ability to conduct root cause analysis.

  • Educated to HNC level in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, electro-mechanical).

  • Knowledge of safe working practices of an engineering lab (COSHH, working at height, RA’s etc.).

  • Some knowledge of basic SAP operations.

  • Knowledge of Water Metering products.

  • Understanding and familiarity with a global Matrix organization.
