A vacancy is available based in Winnersh, working on the Thames Water contract. The role of senior project manager in the SEMD team (electronic security) is based around the management of sub-contractors through design to construction and hand over. The role will undertake liaison with operations, IT and operational technology and assurance. The successful applicant ideally have experience of electronic security systems and construction project management. A background of project management within the water industry, along with electronic security in industrial environments is desired.

 

The candidate will need to be able to illustrate significant experience in:

  • Project planning, and the creation of detailed MS Project plans.

  • Issue and risk management, problem solving

  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Experience in supervising teams

  • Management of 3rd party contractors

  • Commercial awareness

 

The role will involve site work (mainly around London) and therefore travelling will be necessary periodically and a full UK driving license is required. The project manager will attend client premises as required in a timely manner, be courteous, of a professional appearance, and ensure the programme manager is kept fully informed of job progress.

 

Key aspects of duties will include:

  • Maintain MS project plans

  • Acting as a key interface to 3rd party suppliers

  • Support the engineering teams onsite with issues/problems, and working together to provide resolution steps

  • Planning forward for all activities leading up to each site/phase

  • The project manager is responsible for the planning and co-ordination with the sub-contract project manager

  • Be commercially aware at all times so that local decisions can be made within predefined boundaries to the benefit of the company and the client.

  • Monitor the costs of contracts and disseminate within the project.

 

Further training specific to working on Thames Water sites will be provided to the successful applicant. Security Clearance through National Vetting is a requirement of this role, which will be applied for by the company, with the assistance of the successful candidate. This is required in order to visit within the security controlled areas/environment and is a condition of employment for this role.
