Job Role: Principal EC&I Engineer

Location: Faslane, Clyde (3 days in office)
Project: NTSP Project – Naval Base Infrastructure and Buildings (7-year framework)
Contract Type: Long-term
Security Clearance: SC required (must already be in place to start)

Role Purpose:

The Principal Ec&I Engineer will lead the delivery of Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (Ec&I) engineering activities across the naval base project. The Principal Ec&I will provide technical expertise, solve complex problems, ensure safe and compliant solutions, and mentor junior engineers. Acting as a subject matter expert, the Principal Ec&I Engineer will also support customer relationships and contribute to business growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Ec&I design and engineering delivery as the Principal Ec&I Engineer, ensuring scope, cost, quality, and schedule objectives are met.

  • Provide technical expertise and approve complex engineering work and documentation as the Principal Ec&I.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and procedural standards in all Principal Ec&I activities.

  • Manage, mentor, and support engineers and technical specialists under the guidance of the Principal Ec&I Engineer.

  • Collaborate across disciplines and maintain strong customer relationships, representing the Principal Ec&I role.

  • Support tenders, estimates, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as part of the Principal Ec&I Engineer responsibilities.


Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards).

  • Significant Ec&I engineering and team leadership experience suitable for a Principal Ec&I Engineer role.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in nuclear, defence, or other regulated industries.

  • Exposure to full project lifecycle and business development activities.

  • High Voltage experience (HV / 11kV) is advantageous.


Additional Information:

  • Travel may be required.

  • Long-term contract with strong career development potential for the Principal Ec&I.
