Our Client is recruiting a Senior Project Manager to help deliver our client's flood and coastal erosion risk management programme; Reservoirs Act compliance works; flow gauging network upgrades; fish passage improvements; and major forest infrastructure works across the UK. Reporting to our Regional Delivery Director the successful candidate will be accountable for the planning and execution of our projects to the defined scope, cost and programme to meet our Client’s requirements. They will work collaboratively with the Client and framework contractor to deliver projects safely whilst ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.

The ability to travel to Client offices (Cardiff), design offices (Swansea, Bradford-On-Avon & Chester) and project sites on a flexible basis is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, execute, monitor and control projects in terms of scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management for projects varying in size up to £1.5m revenue
  • Effectively control and manage project change
  • Deliver projects to the As-Sold financial metrics or better
  • Contract management, predominantly NEC3 PSC Option C
  • Understand client performance requirements and develop strategy to deliver value to all parties
  • Assess the technical and commercial risk of projects during the sales process
  • Create and review proposals and costings for new projects
  • Implements resource management strategy for small group of professionals across multiple projects
  • Ensures compliance with quality management systems, and drives innovation and efficiencies into project delivery
  • Provides leadership, guidance and direction to others in the coordination and delivery of multi-disciplinary appraisals and designs
  • Organise and chair professional client meetings
  • Coaches and mentors professionals including performance management, career planning and leaning and development.

Attributes

The role is suitable for an experienced Project Manager, or a Principal Engineer with a proven track record in Project Management and a desire to develop their career in this direction.  You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:

  • Professional qualification in Project Management and/or an engineering discipline
  • Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) or Geography discipline
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, monitor and control projects
  • Leadership skills to manage project teams and create positive change
  • Motivated to manage projects in flood and coastal erosion risk management sector
  • Experience in a project management or technical civil engineering role on projects using the NEC suite of contracts
  • Understanding of consultancy commercial models for both project delivery and tender development
  • Knowledge of programme management using Microsoft Project or other suitable software
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Analysis to monitor project performance and produce accurate cost and spend profiles
  • Ability to work under time pressure and balance multiple priorities
  • Proactive and methodical approach to problem solving as an individual and as part of a team with a desire to find a solution
  • Demonstrated customer-facing success in project management
  • Collaborative individual that effectively builds teams
  • Liaison with internal and external clients to develop relationships across the business
  • Excellent communicator with staff, clients and stakeholders
  • Preferable to have experience of working on flood risk management projects
  • Be driven to develop and improve your technical skills and advance your career.
  • Full UK driving license
