We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Programmable Electronic Systems (PES) to lead the delivery of Operational Technology and PES elements across a diverse projects portfolio. This is a pivotal role for candidates with proven expertise in the full PES lifecycle, from concept to handover, within a regulated, quality-assured environment.
Role Overview
As the PES SME, you will:

Lead all aspects of PES delivery across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 15288 and tailored processes, standards, and guides.

Act as the key CE&I technical authority for PES.

Functionally report to the Senior / Responsible Engineer on each project.

Drive project deliverables to meet quality, schedule, and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder & Project Integration
-
Engage with operators, maintainers, operations management, safety case managers, custodians, OTG, and construction/commissioning teams.

Contribute throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements definition and analysis.

Collaborate with integrated project teams, including design disciplines, human factors specialists, quality, cost control, and systems engineers.
Supply Chain & Delivery

Manage internal and external resources to ensure PES deliverables meet required standards.

Author, review, verify, and validate deliverables.

Identify and escalate technical, safety, and engineering risks to the Senior / Responsible Engineer.

Oversee supply chain delivery of PES design and build under NEC3 or equivalent contracts.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
-
Significant demonstrable experience in PES/control system requirements capture and delivery through to handover.

Delivery experience in line with ISO/IEC 15288 or equivalent.

Familiarity with industrial cyber security standards (e.g., BS 62443) and V-Model PES processes.

Experience managing stakeholders, PES deliverables, and personnel across the full PES lifecycle.

Experience within regulated, quality-assured industries.

Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.

Professional registration (minimum IEng) with a relevant institute (e.g., IET, IoP, InstMC).

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
