Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Glasgow (Site-Based with Hybrid Flexibility)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic team on a major infrastructure project in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-value 400kV substation project under NEC4 Option C.

 

This is a permanent staff position offering a great salary and benefits package, along with the chance to work on a flagship project within the power sector.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

 

Cost Management

 

  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure delivery within budget
  • Prepare, analyse, and update cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Manage and validate subcontractor and supplier payments

 

Contract Administration

 

  • Administer NEC4 Option C contracts in line with contractual obligations
  • Manage Compensation Events (CEs), ensuring timely submission and agreement
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records in collaboration with the Project Manager

 

Risk & Value Management

 

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks
  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost efficiency and performance

 

Reporting

 

  • Produce regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts
  • Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders

 

Collaboration

 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Support procurement activities, including subcontractor evaluation and appointment

 


 

Skills & Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, particularly Option C
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in tools such as CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience in power infrastructure or substation projects
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
