Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic team on a major infrastructure project in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-value 400kV substation project under NEC4 Option C.
This is a permanent staff position offering a great salary and benefits package, along with the chance to work on a flagship project within the power sector.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure delivery within budget
- Prepare, analyse, and update cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
- Manage and validate subcontractor and supplier payments
Contract Administration
- Administer NEC4 Option C contracts in line with contractual obligations
- Manage Compensation Events (CEs), ensuring timely submission and agreement
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records in collaboration with the Project Manager
Risk & Value Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost efficiency and performance
Reporting
- Produce regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts
- Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders
Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Support procurement activities, including subcontractor evaluation and appointment
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, particularly Option C
- Excellent financial and analytical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in tools such as CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar
Desirable
- Experience in power infrastructure or substation projects
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
