Directors to Visit India to See Kamla Foundation Work First Hand

Directors Steve Farthing and John Urpi of First Recruitment Group will visit the State of Gujarat, India this January 6th 2016 to see the work supported through the Kamla Foundation charity.

Significant donation to the Medlife Foundation

During 2015, First Recruitment Group has continued to support the Kamla Foundation’s work with people on the margins of society in India. One of their key projects has been to partner with a unique medical charity, the Medlife Foundation, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Through their hard work they have performed reconstructive surgery, especially for children that suffer from cleft lip / palate and related facial deformities.

First Recruitment Group have raised a significant sum of money through the year with gifts, events and staff contributions and this has helped to fund over 50 cleft lip operations together with the associated annual core running costs. Steve and John will be making a trip to India to meet the Medlife team, visit their facilities and also to meet some of the patients in their rural villages so that they can see the results and the plight of the poorest patients first hand.

Helping people on the margins of society

John Urpi commented,

“We have supported the Kamla Foundation charity for a number of years, working closely with their Chairman, Bhups (Bhupendra Mistry). Bhups has sent us pictures and updates on where the money we have donated has been spent, so when he invited us to see first hand the amazing work they do, me and Steve immediately said yes. It’s awful to think that without surgery, people cannot eat or speak properly, won’t be able to get a job or get married and often have to live in isolation from society. Bhups and his charity work deserves to have this hard work highlighted as much as possible.”

Over the years, First Recruitment Group, have provided generous donations from our staff, fundraising events and regular support and we’re really proud that we have enabled Medlife Foundation to purchase a Minibus vehicle that is now being used, to get into the more remote parts of the country to identify and provide this life transforming surgery directly in the community.

Strong community values

At First Recruitment Group we have strong community values, aiming to make a positive difference wherever we can. The way we do this is by choosing two charities to support during the year, so that we can focus our efforts and get to get to know the charity.
