But what is at the heart of our company and why have so many of our employees stayed loyal for 5, 10 and even 15 years?

Working together, progressing together

Many recruitment agencies have a culture of “every man or woman for themselves”. This is only natural in an industry driven by commission. But at First we are different.

Each individual has targets to hit, but we also communicate the progress of the whole business each week so everyone can see how we are growing. We work together to make sure overall goals are achieved, not just individual ones.

Every quarter we hold a company wide meeting detailing each area of the business because we understand that to feel invested in a company you need to see the big picture.

We hold the Silver Award for Investors in People demonstrating our commitment to our staff. We have this award because of our:

  • Training academy for new staff – best practice is taught from the start
  • Development programme for experienced recruiters, helping them progress in their career
  • Bespoke in-house training for staff where needed e.g. management, presentation and sales training

We also have regular staff socials and team building events every quarter, to help build stronger bonds, as well as of course the BIG ONE…the Christmas party.

Community work

We are a company that not only cares about its staff but also its wider community. We support two main charities at First:

  • Locally we support the Foundation for Peace in Warrington which helps those affected by terrorism and conflict
  • Internationally we support the Kamla Foundation that provides valuable help to people on the margins of society in India

We support these charities through sponsorship and donations from the business, but also our staff get involved in various internal fundraising events throughout the year too.
