Our client are currently recruiting for a number of Control Systems Engineers at all different levels to work on a contract basis. Their office is based in Stockton but they are open to candidates from around the country as remote working is available.

Rates are open as the client are keen to see all levels of candidates and the roles will be working inside of IR35.

Job Purpose:

Lead functional input to small projects, or carry out engineering tasks as part of a large project team

Accountabilities:

  • Plan and prioritise own work to ensure that functional project requirements on scope, time and cost are met
  • Carry out engineering calculations, and check work of more junior engineers, to deliver a quality functional input to projects
  • Carry out commissioning activities at client site as required, to ensure successful engineering handover
  • Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained
  • Specify and procure equipment to meet requirements
  • Recognise and address potential and actual cross-discipline issues and conflicts so that overall engineering input to a project is coherent
  • Develop own engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification

Skills, Knowledge and Special Attributes Needed for this Position:

  • Graduate Engineer
  • PLC / SCADA knowledge
  • Substantial relevant experience, typically at least 4 years of experience in relevant project design work, is required to fully perform the role; however less experienced individuals may be trained up within the role, under close supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Applies own skills and experience to resolve common and novel technical problems.
  • Seeks advice from more experienced or specialist resources as required

Level of Discretion:

  • Plans and prioritises own work (once fulfilling the full role)
  • Refers any issues that threaten project delivery to manager
  • Checks work of more junior engineers and designers (once fulfilling the full role; initially the job holder’s own work with be closely checked and supervised)
  • Works within procedures at all times

Communication and contacts:

  • Has to communicate effectively with peers across disciplines, and more senior engineers, on tasks and other day to day issues, in verbal and written format
  • Provides lead in functional engineering documentation, including client documentation, on projects. Prepares functional engineering documentation, including client and supplier documentation, on projects
