Role Purpose: Our client is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to join the team based at Birchwood in Warrington. This contract role, inside IR35, requires eligibility to obtain UK security clearance. The Deputy Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for delivering a major project within the client’s portfolio, leading a team of multi-discipline designers, engineers, and engineering managers.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Mobilising, recruiting, and managing multi-discipline engineering design teams, including performance and succession planning.
- Producing and implementing engineering project execution plans.
- Developing and implementing design assurance plans.
- Implementing the engineering execution strategy, including resource-hour estimates.
- Managing design contractors and interfacing with the supply chain.
- Overseeing cost and schedule performance of large design teams.
- Developing and implementing the Safety by Design strategy for projects in a complex, highly regulated industry.
- Delivery of all Engineering & Technical deliverables, identification of applicable standards, and specifications.
- Approval of all engineering and technical scope changes.
- Engineering coordination across disciplines.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Relevant engineering Degree/HNC/Chartership.
- Experience in major engineering delivery on EPC projects.
- Principal Designer duty experience, including CDM.
- Experience in developing plant level, area level, and system level functional requirements, along with validation and verification planning and execution.
- Experience working within a structured PMO environment, delivering projects following a gated process approach.
- Experience in managing and executing value-based decision making for optimal client solutions.
- Management experience with varied senior internal and external stakeholders, including client teams, program, SRO, and regulators.
