Job Description:
Job Summary: The Senior QS will play a pivotal role in fostering close collaboration between project teams, finance, sales departments, and clients' representatives. Demonstrating strong technical proficiency, the candidate will engage in various project phases, from tender preparation and negotiation to delivery and completion. Travel to Reading may be necessary based on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager to establish consistent and best practices across the business unit, driving continuous improvement.
- Implement and oversee an effective change control process within assigned projects.
- Facilitate the establishment of subcontract arrangements using NEC suite of Contract Documents when necessary.
- Ensure meticulous administrative processes for managing subcontractors, including change controls, early warnings, compensation events, scope changes, and payments.
- Assist the Project Manager in resolving commercial issues with clients and develop strategies to mitigate litigation/claims risks.
- Manage subcontracts from placement of order to final account, collaborating closely with procurement, planning, and delivery teams to meet project requirements.
- Maintain accurate cost control measures throughout projects.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Operations to develop value propositions enhancing customer competitiveness.
Requirements:
- Degree in Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in NEC forms of contract and pre/post contract processes.
- Experience in cost forecasting, reporting, risk management, and contract administration.
- Security clearance or the ability to obtain it.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
- Flexibility regarding working hours.
