Overview: Our client, a leading organisation in the nuclear sector, is seeking a Commissioning Engineer specialising in in-cell handler testing to join their team. Reporting to the Commissioning Team Leader, this role requires a candidate with strong experience in nuclear mechanical systems commissioning and a proactive approach to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute commissioning tests with safety implications, ensuring meticulous control, witnessing, recording, and assessment.
  • Deliver commissioning work scope according to an agreed strategy and plan, prioritizing timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to safety (nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental) throughout the commissioning process.
  • Review commissioning progress and performance, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage day-to-day liaison with personnel to secure necessary permissions and minimize project impact.
  • Review commissioning test results for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide input into other project processes, including design, HAZOP, risk assessment, contract management, estimating, and knowledge management.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in nuclear mechanical systems commissioning.
  • Minimum HNC/HND in an Engineering-related subject or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in nuclear commissioning.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, preferably a member of the Association for Project Management (APM).
  • Proficiency in producing calculations using Microsoft Excel.

Security Clearance: The ability to obtain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) and P4 Pass is essential for continued employment in this role.

Design Tools/Software: Proficiency in using the latest editions of Microsoft Office software.
