NEW Job opportunity - Electrical Inspector - Initial 12 Month Contract - Based in Reading
Our client is currently in search for an Electrical Inspector to be based in Reading on a 12 Month initial contract with up to 2 years of work.
Location: Reading, Aldermaston
Rate: £29/hr base + £5/hr site allowance + £4.50/hr SC clearance (once active)
Additional Benefits:
- £50/night accommodation allowance if staying away from home
- Up to 5 hours/week paid travel time or 2 hours/day if commuting locally
- IR35 status: Outside IR35
- SC clearance is required (can start while it's processing if paperwork is submitted)
Contract: Ongoing (currently until March 2027, with likely extension)
Start Date: ASAP (can start while SC clearance is being processed, subject to forms submission)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Inspector to join our client’s team on a nuclear site. The successful candidate will carry out inspections and quality assurance of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations on a high-security, high-integrity site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct electrical inspections in line with industry standards and site-specific requirements
- Verify compliance to BS 7671 (17th/18th Edition) and issue appropriate certification
- Provide quality assurance and oversight for electrical works, including reviewing installation and test documentation
- Work in close coordination with site teams and contractors to maintain high-quality outcomes
- Ensure health, safety, and security protocols are rigorously followed on-site
Essential Requirements:
- 17th or 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification
- Inspection & Testing certification – 2391 or 2392
- Valid CSCS card
- Sole British Nationality – essential due to security clearance requirements
- Able to obtain SC Clearance (clearance payment applicable once active)
- Demonstrable electrical quality assurance/inspection experience
- Strong understanding of relevant UK electrical standards and regulations
