Role

Job Purpose
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Agent to join our clients site-based project in the South West, where they are a delivery partner on a key UK infrastructure programme.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in one of the most complex and challenging projects in the country, where you will be responsible for overseeing construction at site level and ensuring safe, high-quality delivery.

As an Agent, you’ll play a key leadership role within the site team, driving performance, collaboration, and compliance across all project activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management in a client-facing role, promoting a positive culture with key values and behaviours of Safety and Quality.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities, including chairing regular coordination and progress meetings.
  • Report to Senior Leadership Teams across multiple project organisational functions.
  • Liaise with cross-functional site teams to enable and progress works efficiently.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities, maintaining the Risk Register with relevant project functions.
  • Review and scrutinise drawings and technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policy, and best practice throughout construction and commissioning.
  • Support training and development for subcontractors, site supervisors, and workforce.
  • Oversee H&S and progress meetings, ensuring all project documentation is completed for handover.
  • Assist in detailed scheduling and programming of site activities with subcontractors and the site team.
  • The Agent will be a key link between field operations, subcontractors, and senior management, ensuring technical integrity and smooth delivery of work packages.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as an Agent or 2+ years as a Senior Engineer in a site-based construction environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills in a complex, multi-stakeholder setting.
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, Quality, and Risk Management processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related IT tools.
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience) and vocational training in Construction/Engineering.
  • Valid CSCS card.

Desirable:

  • Experience using BIM/Digital tools such as Autodesk and/or Bentley.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software (Aphex, Primavera P6, etc.).
  • Awareness or qualification in Behavioural Science/Safety.
  • Project Management training (APM, Prince2, etc.).
  • Nuclear sector training (Triple Bar).
  • Safety qualifications such as SMSTS or IOSH.
  • Additional site-based certifications (e.g., Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor, Lifting Appointed Person, Confined Spaces – Medium Risk).
  • Working towards or holding Chartered status with a relevant professional institution.
