About the Role
Following a major project win and a growing pipeline of work, our Civils division is expanding. We are seeking a motivated Civil / Structural Engineer with strong design experience to join our team in York.
You will be involved in delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across a range of rail infrastructure projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver civil and structural engineering design for rail infrastructure projects
- Undertake technical design work across structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
- Produce, review, and check calculations, reports, and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards, codes, and client requirements
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Support project delivery across all design stages
- Contribute to technical problem-solving and design optimisation
- Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in civil/structural design within rail infrastructure projects (essential)
- Strong technical background in at least one of: structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
- Proficiency in relevant engineering design software
- Strong understanding of UK standards and industry practices
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Requirements
- Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent) preferred but not essential
- Experience within a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
