Principal CS&A Engineer

Our Client has a requirement for a CS&A Principal Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.

Role Purpose:

The CS&A Principal Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for Civil, Structural and Architectural engineering activities on a major infrastructure project. The role will support design assurance, construction delivery, site engineering activities and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that engineering solutions are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Report directly to the CS&A Responsible Engineer on project activities.
• Provide leadership, guidance and technical support to the JV CS&A design and site engineering teams.
• Review, check and comment on CS&A design submissions throughout development, including site modifications.
• Complete and submit relevant engineering documentation and design review records.
• Review, assess, accept or reject design submissions in accordance with project procedures.
• Review and respond to Technical Queries (TQs) and Project Proposal submissions.
• Monitor progress of structural design deliverables, including drawings, calculations and supporting documentation through to As-Built status.
• Support the review and substantiation of construction-related engineering issues.
• Interface with multidisciplinary design teams to resolve engineering challenges and coordinate design activities.
• Provide support to safety case activities, including Design Justification Reports (DJRs).
• Demonstrate an understanding of structural support systems, blockwork wall substantiation and associated engineering requirements.
• Support fire engineering reviews and attend meetings with specialist consultants as required.
• Review and provide technical oversight of external works packages, including concrete slabs, drainage systems and associated infrastructure.
• Assess interfaces between external works and building structures during construction.
• Engage regularly with construction teams and supply chain partners to support project delivery.
• Attend risk review meetings and provide engineering input where required.
• Undertake regular site visits, inspections and walkdowns to identify and resolve CS&A-related issues.
• Liaise with infrastructure and utilities stakeholders to secure support for engineering proposals where necessary.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with MICE, MIStructE or equivalent professional membership.
• Extensive experience delivering engineering solutions on major projects within highly regulated industries.
• Previous experience working within the nuclear sector, including new build and/or decommissioning projects.
• Demonstrable leadership experience within engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of civil and structural design principles.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering documentation and design deliverables.
• Working knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and multidisciplinary coordination capabilities.
• Understanding of external works design, drainage systems and structural interfaces.
• Experience supporting safety case activities and engineering substantiation processes.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance requirements.
