Senior Governance & Reporting Manager

12 month contract initially 

Helensburgh onsite 2-4 days per week

Position Overview

About the Role

This Governance & Reporting Manager role sits within a Capability Integration function and is responsible for supporting governance activities that enable effective programme management, control, assurance and decision-making.

The successful candidate will manage governance processes, reporting activities and stakeholder engagement across a major infrastructure and capability programme. The role requires the collection, analysis and reporting of programme information to support informed decision-making and delivery confidence.

The position involves facilitating governance forums, maintaining reporting structures and ensuring integration between multiple stakeholders through consistent processes, reporting standards and controls.

The environment is complex and fast-paced, with numerous programme interdependencies and operational constraints. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong programme and project management capability while delivering outcomes at pace.

This role requires regular onsite attendance to support workshops, governance meetings, stakeholder engagement and operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Process Management

  • Develop and maintain RACI matrices and programme ways of working.
  • Develop and maintain process maps.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and desk instructions.
  • Ensure governance activities operate effectively and comply with agreed processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop stakeholder engagement plans using appropriate analysis and profiling techniques.
  • Lead stakeholder analysis activities, identifying key stakeholder groups and engagement requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate communication and engagement throughout the project lifecycle.

Change Control

  • Analyse programme change requests and assess impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with established change control processes.
  • Escalate instances of non-compliance where necessary.
  • Maintain programme change control records and logs.

Decision Support

  • Ensure decision papers are supported by robust documentation and analysis.
  • Coordinate governance approvals and decision submissions.
  • Track decisions and ensure outcomes are communicated and recorded appropriately.
  • Maintain programme decision logs.

Knowledge & Information Management

  • Implement and manage knowledge management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational information management standards.
  • Support document governance and information-control activities.
  • Lead lessons learned activities and maintain lessons learned registers. 

Essential Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a governance-related role.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, scheduling and process management.
  • Experience supporting project controls within infrastructure or major programmes.
  • Experience engaging and managing stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present concise recommendations.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Experience working within collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills.
  • Experience using reporting and project management tools such as Power BI and Jira.

Security & Eligibility

  • Sole UK National.
  • Able to obtain or hold SC Security Clearance.
  • Willingness to undertake regular onsite working as required by programme needs.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships

Suitable candidates will ideally have experience within programme governance and major project delivery environments.

Relevant qualifications include:

  • APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)
  • APMG Project Planning and Control Practitioner
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)
