Civils/Piling Construction Manager

Lead critical civils and piling activities on a major UK construction project and play a key role in successful project delivery.

Our Client has a requirement for a Civils / Piling Construction Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Padeswood.

Role Purpose:

• Oversee the delivery of civil and piling early works programmes to required standards, specifications and project objectives.
• Ensure safe, efficient and structured execution of construction activities in line with project schedules.
• Support successful delivery of site construction works through effective leadership, planning and stakeholder engagement.
• Drive compliance with HSE, quality and construction management requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Implement project HSE policies and plans, ensuring contractor compliance with all requirements.
• Ensure safe, efficient and structured delivery of all construction activities in accordance with project schedules.
• Manage mobilisation and demobilisation of resources to meet programme requirements.
• Ensure all personnel are competent, appropriately qualified and compliant with training and competency requirements.
• Audit and review construction processes, implementing recommendations where required.
• Ensure Management of Change (MOC) compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support execution readiness and mitigation of construction and execution risks.
• Review contractor Quality Assurance and Inspection Plans.
• Maintain inspection, monitoring and hold point requirements.
• Inspect works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Identify deficiencies and manage non-conformance reports through to closure.
• Provide input to project schedules and support construction planning activities.
• Review and verify contractor progress reports.
• Apply commercial awareness and understanding of EPCM project delivery models.
• Support contractual discussions and negotiations where required.
• Assess working conditions, site environments and construction risks.
• Identify engineering hazards and implement appropriate controls.
• Ensure compliance with environmental responsibilities and site requirements.
• Maintain working knowledge of safety legislation, permits to work, CDM regulations, COSHH requirements and construction safety plans.
• Review and approve method statements as required.
• Support coordination of construction, commissioning and handover activities.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Minimum HNC in an engineering-related discipline or completed trade apprenticeship with relevant technical qualifications.
• ECITB Temporary Works qualification or equivalent.
• CSCS Gold Card or higher.
• Current SMSTS certification.
• Management experience within the Engineering Construction Industry.
• Demonstrable experience in a Construction Manager or senior construction leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of construction management practices, procedures and project delivery.
• Strong understanding of Project Management Systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience developing and mentoring construction personnel.
• Commitment to delivering project objectives and business goals.
• Valid Site Safety Critical Medical including Drug and Alcohol screening requirements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Understanding of EPCM project environments and commercial considerations.
• Working knowledge of permits to work, CDM regulations, COSHH and construction safety requirements.
• Ability to assess engineering risks, hazards and construction methodologies.
