Keep Industry Moving - Join a High-Performing Manufacturing Team as an Electrical Shift Engineer
Our Client has a requirement for an Electrical Shift Engineer, who will be required to work on a 4 On, 4 Off (Continuous Rotation) contract basis in Belfast.
Role Purpose:
- Maintain, troubleshoot and improve production equipment to maximise uptime, reliability and operational efficiency.
- Support high-speed automated manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance activities across the site.
- Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising downtime.
- Job Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out electrical and multi-skilled maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair faults on automated manufacturing machinery.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled systems, including fault finding and minor modifications.
- Maintain electrical systems including motors, VFDs, control panels, sensors, relays and high-voltage equipment.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to support production operations.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities and complete maintenance records accurately.
- Support conveyors, packaging lines and manufacturing support systems.
- Raise and complete work orders through the CMMS/SAP maintenance system.
- Participate in daily maintenance meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with root cause analysis and equipment reliability projects.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, GMP and health & safety compliance.
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently to minimise downtime.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Strong electrical maintenance background within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience fault finding on automated production equipment.
- PLC experience, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of electrical control systems, drives, motors and instrumentation.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience carrying out both reactive and preventative maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently on a rotating shift pattern.
- Own hand tools.
- Experience within FMCG, food, beverage, bottling or packaging environments advantageous.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, ControlLogix, PLC-5 or SLC500 systems advantageous.
- SAP or CMMS maintenance system experience advantageous.
- Forklift, MEWP or scissor lift licences advantageous.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Time-Served Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production or packaging environment.
- Additional Health & Safety qualifications would be advantageous.
