Our Client has a requirement for a Cost Controller, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Aberdeen.
Role Purpose:
- Provide cost control support to operational and functional teams.
- Maintain accurate cost tracking data and deliver regular cost reports.
- Administer budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reporting.
- Act as a key interface between Operations and Finance to ensure accurate cost information and effective budgeting processes.
- Support cost management activities in line with company procedures and contractual requirements.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly cost review meetings with budget holders.
- Support the preparation of business plans, forecasts, and Value of Work Done (VOWD) reporting.
- Monitor commitments, purchase orders, and invoices against approved budgets.
- Support Procure-to-Pay (P2P) activities where required.
- Liaise with Supply Chain and Finance teams to resolve invoice and cost issues.
- Provide information to support cost allocation cycles and financial reporting.
- Prepare variance analysis, trend reporting, and cost performance metrics.
- Work closely with budget owners, contract owners, operational teams, and accountants.
- Carry out reconciliations and detailed cost investigations when required.
- Support reporting structures and master data management activities.
- Produce ad hoc cost analysis and management presentations.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in compliance with relevant HSE, ethics, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in emergency response arrangements where required.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Degree qualified or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Experience within Oil & Gas, Energy, Process, or similar heavy industry sectors.
- Strong understanding of cost management, forecasting, budget control, and VOWD methodologies.
- Good understanding of contracts, procurement, and commercial processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using financial and cost management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
- Strong attention to detail with a commercially focused mindset.
- Understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality management principles.
