My client are looking to strengthen their newly formed environmental team by bringing in a Chief Environmental Consultant to lead the team. This critical role will contribute to the success of onshore and offshore projects, supporting clients across the UK.

As Chief Environmental Consultant, you will drive the development and management of their environmental team, providing essential expertise in environmental engineering. You will play a key role in overcoming planning and consenting challenges for projects in oil and gas, offshore wind, and low carbon sectors.

Key Responsibilities: Chief Environmental Consultant

  • Represent the company environmental strategy and capabilities to clients.
  • Bid for and deliver environmental scopes independently and as part of larger engineering projects.
  • Interact with clients to ensure delivery aligns with expectations and budget commitments.
  • Manage the company sub-contract supply chain for environmental engineering, with support from commercial specialists.
  • Define, build, and manage the company internal environmental team, collaborating with HR for recruitment.
  • Support the development of the company environmental reputation through external engagement and social media.
  • Coordinate and share knowledge with existing environmental capabilities within the company, fostering collaboration.
  • Uphold the highest levels of safety and integrity performance in line with the company values.

Key Requirements: Chief Environmental Consultant

  • Degree in a relevant science, engineering, or environmental subject.
  • Chartered Engineer status is expected.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and standards, with awareness of overseas regimes.
  • Extensive environmental experience in UK energy projects.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong coordination, monitoring, and supervisory skills.
  • Proactive approach and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
