Job Title: Buyer

 

Contract Type: Umbrella hourly rate 

 

Rolling 12-Month Contract (Project expected to run until end of 2028)

 

Start Date: ASAP

 

Working Hours:

 

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Additional hours may be required in line with business needs

 

Work Location:

 

Hybrid

 

  • Ideally located around Inverness
  • Required to attend site at Port of Nigg once lease is active
  • Up to 2 days remote work per week once site activities commence

 

Travel Requirements:

 

  • Initial training: 1 month at Hartlepool
  • Ongoing: Monthly site visits to Hartlepool
  • All travel expenses reimbursable

 

Role Overview:

 

We are seeking a proactive Site Buyer with strong procurement experience to support the delivery of a major project running through to 2028. This role will be instrumental in ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with project timelines and compliance standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage procurement of site materials, equipment, and services
  • Issue and evaluate RFQs, negotiate with suppliers, and raise purchase orders
  • Track deliveries and ensure alignment with project schedules
  • Liaise with internal project and construction teams to assess procurement needs
  • Maintain supplier relationships and resolve delivery or quality issues
  • Monitor costs, budgets, and savings in line with project targets
  • Ensure full compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
  • Support audits and reporting as required by commercial and project teams

 

Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience in procurement or buying within a construction or industrial project environment
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple procurement packages
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to site-based work schedules
