Are you a Mechanical Technician looking for a new role? A global leader in the design, manufacture and sale of equipment and components used in Oil & Gas drilling, Production, Industrial and Renewable Energy sectors is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Field Service Mechanical Technician to join their Service Team based in Manchester.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role is critical in delivering high-quality aftermarket support for their customers through a combination of on-site service and workshop-based activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of mechanical systems including pumps, rotating equipment, and vacuum and pressure systems. This Mechanical Technician role requires a proactive individual who can manage tasks independently, respond to urgent travel requirements, and uphold the highest standards of technical service and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Technician
- Provide on-site support for equipment installation, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Undertake workshop-based tasks as part of the aftermarket service team
- Prepare and approve detailed work packs for service-related activities
- Perform mechanical completion checks, factory acceptance tests, leak and pressure testing, and electrical function/loop checks
- Compile and deliver detailed technical reports and service documentation
- Deliver aftersales support, including inspections, spare part identification, and technical consultation
- Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and procedures
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, including engineering and project stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using Microsoft Office applications
- Travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas, often at short notice and for extended periods
Qualifications and Experience: Mechanical Technician
- Completed recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (e.g. City & Guilds, ONC, HNC)
- Must hold or be able to obtain a valid CSCS card
- Preferably experienced in HGV or heavy plant engineering
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Working knowledge of wastewater and industrial systems, including familiarity with industry standards and procedures
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
