Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Planner to join our operations team in Basra. The role involves planning and scheduling maintenance activities in accordance with Eni’s maintenance policy and programs. The successful candidate will coordinate preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational reliability.
The position also requires the development and maintenance of technical and planning documentation, coordination with multiple departments, and ensuring material and resource availability to support efficient maintenance execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly work schedules in cooperation with the Operative Maintenance and Field Production Departments.
- Identify and plan resource requirements for maintenance activities, including manpower, materials, tools, and contractors.
- Verify the availability of materials in relation to the planned work schedule.
- Analyse operational feedback from completed tasks to improve maintenance plans and processes.
- Evaluate corrective maintenance notifications and define the appropriate execution of work orders.
- Manage and optimise corrective, predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance work plans.
- Monitor the progress of SECE/OCE works and develop strategies to reduce backlog.
- Coordinate with contractors on planning, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Plan and manage turnaround and shutdown activities.
- Prepare and evaluate work breakdown structures (WBS) and bills of materials (BoMs).
- Liaise with the Materials Coordinator to ensure timely availability of all required materials.
- Manage and update data in the SAP system, including Plant Maintenance Records (PMRs).
- Issue call-offs, material and service requests, and service entries in the SAP system.
- Develop planning documentation such as long-term strategies, HQ reports, and the annual master plan.
- Prepare and review technical documents including maintenance procedures, tender specifications, and contract drafts.
- Support root cause analysis activities and suggest maintenance improvements.
- Assist with cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting in line with maintenance plans, including forecasts, Value of Work Done (VOWD), and invoice registration.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
- Technical diploma (preferably in mechanical engineering) or higher education qualification.
- Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Significant experience in maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in SAP system management.
- Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based approaches.
- Experience in mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, and telecommunication maintenance, including troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of international mechanical standards applicable in the oil industry.
- Expertise in maintenance engineering tools such as CMMS, KPI reporting, and maintenance performance analysis.
- Basic understanding of production processes.
- Experience in developing business plans.
- Strong understanding of safety fundamentals and adherence to the Code of Ethics.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
