Job Title: Civil & Structural Engine
Location: Humber Refinery – South Killingholme / Immingham (Site based 5 days a week with flexible working to have some Fridays off)
Reports To: Civil/Structural Engineer

 

Rate:  PAYE hourly rate

 


 

About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to provide engineering support for maintenance, projects, plant upgrades, and turnaround activities at the Humber Refinery. You will ensure that all engineering solutions are safe, compliant, and cost-effective.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead inspections, surveys, and structural assessments of refinery assets, including buildings, stacks, drains, containment, fireproofing, roads, and rail.
  • Develop engineering solutions for maintenance, plant upgrades, and new projects.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and plant owners to gather information and define design requirements.
  • Produce and review civil and structural designs, drawings, and calculations.
  • Design temporary works such as lifts, excavations, and temporary supports.
  • Maintain and update refinery civil and structural standards and procedures.
  • Provide discipline input to projects at all stages, including Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
  • Support plant operations, turnarounds, maintenance strategies, and problem investigations (e.g., Root Cause Analysis).

 


 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE/IStructE preferred).
  • Strong experience in structural and civil design.
  • Proficient with engineering software (Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000) and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in temporary works design is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • IT-literate (Excel, Word, Outlook).
