Our Client has a requirement for an Onshore Planner, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Barrow-in-Furness on a 2 Year contract

Role Purpose

The Onshore Planner is responsible for implementing and continuously improving the asset planning process, ensuring consistency, rigour, and alignment with industry best practice to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

The role provides day-to-day planning support to operational teams, ensuring work is effectively prioritised, planned, and aligned with safety, integrity, and production objectives. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support functions, the Onshore Planner plays a key role in coordinating short, medium, and long-term plans, supporting execution readiness and operational success.

The position also provides offshore planning cover for short durations when required.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Implement and continuously improve the asset planning process to ensure consistency and alignment with best practice.
  • Drive planning discipline, governance, and standardisation across asset activities.
  • Compile and facilitate 28-day and 3-month planning cycles.
  • Ensure plans are robust, prioritised, achievable, and ready for execution.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and readiness for delivery within agreed planning windows.
  • Provide daily planning support to Operations teams.
  • Guide prioritisation activities in line with safety, asset integrity, and production objectives.
  • Support the Onshore Operations Manager and wider operational teams in planning and decision-making activities.
  • Engage with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support functions to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Coordinate planning inputs and ensure alignment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Facilitate clear communication of priorities, risks, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Ensure work scopes are sufficiently defined and prepared ahead of execution.
  • Identify and resolve constraints that may impact delivery.
  • Support the smooth transition of work from planning through to execution.
  • Contribute to the 8-Quarter (8Q) planning process and support alignment of long-term activities with asset strategy.
  • Provide visibility of future workload, resource requirements, and upcoming activities.
  • Monitor planning performance, including plan compliance and schedule adherence.
  • Track and report planning KPIs to support medium and long-term improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and operational efficiency.
  • Align planning activities across onshore and wider asset operations.
  • Support the integration of operational, maintenance, and project priorities.
  • Provide offshore planning cover for short durations when required.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Significant experience in integrated planning within an operational environment.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of Primavera P6 and SAP.
  • Experience within Project Management and Project Controls disciplines.
  • Understanding of Project Controls, including Planning, Cost Management, Risk Management, and Management of Change (MoC).
  • Strong analytical and systematic approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support functions.
  • Knowledge of planning processes and execution readiness within a high-hazard or operational environment.
  • Ability to monitor performance metrics and utilise planning data to drive improvements.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, raising issues in line with company policies.
  • Technical qualification or engineering background desirable.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, energy, process, or related operational sectors would be advantageous.
