Our client is a very well established service provider to the energy, utilities, infrastructure and transportation markets who is known for providing leading, cutting edge solutions to their clients. They are seeking an experienced Inspection Engineer with UKAS RG2 Category 2 minimum to work on various sites across either the North West or North East of England.

You will be inspecting pressure systems and pressurized equipment, tanks & piping to meet both regulatory and client requirements, primarily within Chemical Sites, Refineries etc.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)

  • Identifying preparation requirements from the WSE

  • Examination in accordance with the WSE

  • Undertaking simple NDT ¡V ultrasonic thickness checks, magnetic particle, dye penetrant

  • Coordination of NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist methods,

  • Preparation of clear reports including photographs

  • Assessment of deterioration

  • Reviewing design calculations and sentencing defects

  • Coordinating repairs.

  • Participation in Risk Based Inspection studies

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • UKAS RG2 Level 2 minimum (Accreditation for In-Service Inspection of Pressure Systems/Equipment)
  • HND Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) minimum

  • Ability to work safely unsupervised

  • Full driving license and willingness for UK travel essential

  • Meeting statutory reporting requirements

  • Able to deliver bad news

  • Meeting tight deadlines

  • Able to interpret engineering data

  • Confident in use of IT software

  • Working at heights and in confined spaces

  • Willing to work extended hours to cover maintenance events

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Chemical/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas experience

  • Knowledge of fabrication/repair of pressure equipment

  • Experience of NDE techniques

  • Man management experience

  • Incorporated Engineer status
