Major Projects Controller

Purpose of the role

As a Major Projects Controller you will provide comprehensive project support to the Major Projects team, maintaining accurate project data for your entire portfolio of projects, from initiation through to construction and project closedown

Principal accountabilities

• Initial set up of Major projects in the Chime system, establishing target spend and volume profiles.

• Regular liaison with Project Managers to understand actual project status.

• Timely updating of project status within Chime, regarding spend and outputs, based on information received from Project Managers.

• Provide accurate and timely reporting, including but not limited to forecast costs, milestone dates and achievements.

• Production of ad-hoc reports as required supporting the management of the overall Major Projects

Connections Programme.

• Support activities related to the formulation of the future Grid and Primary Major Projects connections Programme.

• Responding to Finance reviews / testing of project status on a timely basis.

• Responsible for ensuring our compliance data is accurate and assured within guidelines, including the coordination of WLT and SLT assurance. (End of Year OFGEM reporting of outputs)

• Support the Major Projects Programme Manager in the routine auditing of section delivery processes.

• Provide mentoring, support and guidance to Admin resource within the team, including across the wider

Infrastructure Solutions team.

• Number of live projects – approximately 50

• Chime Allocation – 263 Projects

• Annual value of programme – approximately £15-£20m

Key measures and targets (Performance Indicators)

• Responsible for the timely updating of project status in advance of commercial monthly reporting, highlighting areas of concern and potential risk to business unit objectives.

• Responsible for the accurate forecasting in line with project estimate, schedule and budget.

• Responsible for the efficient and effective closure of projects upon completion.

• Responsible for the reporting of earned value on live projects, with an emphasis on planned costs, actual costs and forecast costs.

• Responsible for the timely reporting of OFGEM outputs and physical activities

• Responsible for the accurate reporting of Milestone dates in Chime
