Our client seeks an EC&I engineer with experience of working within the nuclear sector in the UK. You will typically have a degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering and be chartered (or working towards Chartership) with an institution accredited to the Engineering Council.
Role Purpose:
The Engineer will play a crucial role in developing, managing, and delivering EC&I engineering deliverables within the nuclear sector. This role involves integrating technical engineering deliverables with regulatory requirements, contributing to personal development, and enhancing the company's nuclear capability.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Develop EC&I engineering deliverables supporting capital projects in the nuclear sector.
- Ensure technical integration of engineering deliverables with relevant regulatory standards.
- Contribute to personal development and continuous improvement of the company's nuclear capability.
- Occasionally manage EC&I Engineering involvement in small to medium-size projects, overseeing time, cost, quality, and client relationships.
- Uphold quality and compliance controls within local teams and projects.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
Essential:
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., IEE/InstMC).
- Demonstrable experience in high-risk industry design and engineering.
- Experience in both concept/front-end design and detailed design.
- Designing electrical supplies for process equipment including fixed and variable speed drives, and intelligent MCC systems.
- Understanding of IEC 61508/ 61511.
- Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS, and MIS).
- Familiarity with process instrumentation systems and standard electrical engineering calculations.
- Proficiency in communication, presentation, relationship development, and stakeholder management.
- Considerable design, technical detailing, and specification writing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer Status.
- Experience in design engineering within the nuclear sector.
- Work experience in a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Experience in managing teams across different levels.
- Contribution to bids, proposals, and tender specifications.
- Knowledge of hazardous area design and intrinsically safe instrumentation.
- Experience with functional safety and relevant certifications.
- Security Clearance for working in the UK nuclear sector.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD P&ID and Visio.
